Matt and I decided to go and see a movie. I wanted to see National Treasure (to support my home state) and Matt wanted to see I am Legend. Obviously from the title of this blog he won. I decided since I can hardly ever get him to even step foot into a movie theater I had better see the one that he wanted to see.....so aunt Skris came over and off we went.
It started off being a pretty nice evening and then I figured out that this movie was scary! I have always been one who says that movies don't scare me because for the most part they don't. (unless it has to do with aliens......really not into them. Don't like to watch them on TV and I certainly don't read anything about them) SO there was no way this movie was going to scare me right......wrong! I'm not sure if it was that everyone died in the movie or if it was the premise that they found a cure for cancer that went way wrong or if it was the really scary monster people that only came out in the dark. About half way through it I leaned into Matt and told him that I really did not like this movie! I am totally surprised that it didn't give me nightmares. Those monster people were really freaky. They opened their mouths real wide and made a horrible noise. They actually looked sort of alien like, maybe that was my problem. To top everything off the poor dog dies! Not only scary but broke my heart.......don't think I recommend this movie (or at least wait until it comes out on DVD so you can keep the lights on and have a blanket really close for those scary moments.

Merry Christmas everyone
I finally have been able to take a moment and post everything that I have been wanting to post. They are a little out of order but you get the gist.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I wish you all health and happiness with this coming new year.

GS Camping in December
Brrrrrrrr......let me start by telling you that I didn't have that great of a time while we were camping. Rocky Pointe in the middle of December, not my idea of a great time. It was going to be cold and we were all sleeping in platform tents. When we got there it was raining. That always makes for a fantastic time, unloading cars in the rain. Nothing was heated, we had to rely on our so called skills to start a fire and let me tell you our skills are no that great. We had to have Amy come and start our fire twice and both times as soon as she left it went out. Not sure what our problems were but it was inevitable that we were going to be cold. The first night in the platform tent wasn't horrible but by all means wasn't great. My feet froze but that was all. Saturday was freezing all day long but at least the rain stopped. We made lots of arts and craft projects. it was fun except for the fact that I was cold. I drank hot water all day long trying to warm up my bones. That night we got together with all the other troops that showed up and had a dinner with them. Not sure who planned this but the building we had it in had no windows......freezing cold air just blowing through the screens. Can you imagine my pain? Then to top my weekend off the food was cold! Didn't even have hot food to put into my mouth. Cold lasagna.....fun fun fun! We had a cookie exchange also. The kids liked that but as soon as we got our cookies we were all ready to leave and head back to our camp (remember that one, the one with no fire) we stopped off at another cabin and warmed up by drinking hot coco and singing songs, then it was off to ours. We got ready for bed and headed off into our tents. I decided to put my coat into the bottom of my sleeping bag for added warmth for my feet. It worked ok but there was definite moments that I was cold. Sunday when we got up it was beautiful.....naturally. Our camp director (Katherine) came by and told us that we all earned our Polar Bear Patch that night. It was below freezing and we slept in tents. (let me take you back to first grade for a moment. We went camping and there was a troop that was going to sleep in tents that night to try and get their Polar Bear patch. I had never heard of this patch but I told Karen that I had no interest in earning it. If she wanted the girls to get it she was on her own.......now back to the future) We earned the stinking patch. I can hardly contain myself (do you sense my sarcasm?) The girls were all fine with all their little bodies breathing inside one tent so please do not worry about them. Send all of your concerns my way please and thank you. We had to leave extra early on that beautiful day because Kaylee had her piano recital that we had to get home for.
All the girls said they had a great time. And I guess for the most part I did too. My excuse is that I don't perform well when I am cold and I am sticking to it.

Piano Recital

Kaylees piano recital was absolutely beautiful this year. She played The First Noel. She messed up towards the end but pulled out of it nicely. I asked her what happened when we were in the car and she told me that she lost her place and then got nervous. Can't say I blame her.....there is no way I could have even done it.

and the saga continues
Kaylee is still pulling her tricks on me. I don't know what in the world she is thinking. She had homework from school and she conveniently left it at school! DRIVE ME CRAZY! She got her DVD player taken away tonight for it. I don't think she actually meant to leave it at school this time but because of it I had to follow through with my threats. I'm not even sure if this is working on her but I have to keep trying something so I can make it through her thick skull.
She asked me yesterday when she is going to get her stereo back and I told I didn't know. She is going to have to earn it back. Now the DVD player has been taken away so she is going in the wrong direction! HELP ME SOMEBODY........PLEASE!

My Christmas Party
My Christmas party was Saturday night. It was pretty fun. They had Santa there to take pictures with. They catered in the food which was ok (it wasn't from my most favorite place but there was a few things I could eat and the pecan pie was delicious) we played a game to where a story is read and you pass the package in your hands either left or right, it was fun. I came home with a car cleaning kit.....good gift for Matt because you know I won't be using it very often. Then it was over. It seemed to go by pretty quick but it was fun. A couple of us moved the party to the parking lot.....talking and having a good time. We were out there forever. Made it home about midnight.

5th grade might just kill me
I am actually not sure if it is actually 5th grade or if it is just something Kaylee is going through right now but we are having an extremely hard time seeing eye to eye.
To make a long story not quite as long lets go back a couple days to Sunday..........I had asked her on Friday if she had any homework and she told me no. Sunday I go to sign her notebook and look at her agenda and it says that she was to study for a test. She "already did" but she didn't recall what it was for. She had to go to bed early that night for that one.
Now lets go to Monday night...........I was helping Aaron and Kaylee was in her room doing her homework. Aaron and I finished, then we all ate supper, then we did our nightly chores. I put Aaron to bed and then Kaylee had me help her with her spelling words then she did a math worksheet. I had her do piano while I was folding clothes (its about 9:30 now) when I finished putting them away I went in her room to sign her notebook and look at her agenda. She was to study for her states quiz and also her science test. I hit instant anger. How could she do this again. What was wrong with her? Is she trying to prove some sort of point? (and if so what in the world is it?) We studied the states and then we came out into the living room to study her science. We started by reading the chapter and then I asked her questions. Surprisingly she did pretty good. I just happen to turn the page to the next chapter and I asked her if she was suppose to read it also. Reluctantly she told me yes. It was 10:10 now so I told her she had to go to bed. I was so angry with her, more angry then I think I have ever been in my life. I am shocked that she is acting like this. I called Matt to talk to him about my frustrations and all he did was get mad because I was mad! So not only was getting from Kaylee but I was also getting it from Matt and earlier that night I got it from Aaron because rather then eat his supper he threw it away. He was so proud of that clean plate and then I gave him the look and asked what he did with his food and he admitted to me that he threw it away, so he had to go to bed early.
Anyway this entire family is making me angry! Matt and I finally talked a little bit and I told him that things were going to start getting taken away and he said that we will start with piano and then move on to girl scouts. This is absolutely not what I want to do but I'm not sure what else to do.
Now lets move on to tonight.......I got home and Aaron had part of his homework done and Kaylee was finished.....its a miracle! I helped Aaron with the rest of his then we ate and after that I told her to get me all of her stuff so I could sign it. Sure enough everything was done. Yippee! Am I finally getting through to this child? I had a glimmer of hope for a second and then it was shattered right at my feet. I told her to bring me the book that she as reading so I could ask her questions. She couldn't answer any of the questions correctly. She admitted to me that she didn't read the chapter. So now I am going to have to go back and read the chapter she read and ask her questions just to make sure that she reads. This time her radio was taken away from her (she is still crying over it) I told her next is her DVD player and then her TV and then her toys.
Do you think this tactic will work? I have no idea. She has already asked me when can she get the radio back and I told her I haven't decided yet but not anytime soon.
What else do I do? I guess I start with the somewhat small stuff and make my way up the ladder. I am ready to pull my hair out! Loony bin here I come.

Enchanted
We went and watched the movie Enchanted after church today. Really cute. When I left the theater I was actually happy! I felt good and I wanted to sing.....okay maybe it wasn't that extreme but I did have a smile on my face.

Grizwald Family Christmas.......our new last name.
I am pretty sure that most of you have see Christmas Vacation. One of my favorite Christmas movies of all time. You know how Clark Grizwald does everything extremely over the top. The bigger the better so to speak. (if you haven't seen this movie rent it so you know what I am talking about. You will not be disappointed by it) Well I have a feeling that my husband has turned into Clark Grizwald and we are his family. The only thing missing is the extremely redneck cousin........wait there are a few of them around here so I guess nothing is missing! Here is what Matt did. He has had an idea for a few years now and he has implemented it this year for our Christmas yard art. It really is a good idea, with Matt loving racing and the rest of us enjoying it also he thought that he would make a sled and reindeer out of an 18 wheeler and race cars. He has Tony Stewart and Bobby LaBonte and Jeff Gordan and Junior and Ryan Newman and a few others that he did. They look really good. Him, his dad and the kids all did a fantastic job on cutting them out and painting them. They look really good and the 18 wheeler has Merry Christmas written across it. Very cute! The Grizwald theme comes into play because they are HUGE! They almost go all the way across our yard and they would go into the next yard if they were positioned differently. Like I said though, they are very cute and he had a great idea, I just think I maybe would have made them a little bit smaller. He is very proud of them and so are the kids.....and so am I.
I will take a picture in the daylight. I tried taking one tonight but it didn't turn out. Then I will post it for you all to see.

My little cub scout

Aaron had his Den meeting last night. Lots of awards were given out. He received 2 belt loops (BB gun and archery) and 3 patches (although I don't know what to do with the patches.....Amy what do you do with Caleb's? They said something about a blanket but I didn't understand it) and with the popcorn he sold he got a marshmallow shooter.

By the way
we didn't hit any road construction on our way to OKC or on our way back. The entire time we have lived here we have always hit road construction going up and coming back. I wonder if they are finally finishing up the roads up there!
Happy Thanksgiving
Its a few days late but in my defense we have been out of town. (ranted we got home Friday night and now its Sunday) We went up to Beckys for Thanksgiving. Had a really nice time. Lots and lots of food and now she has a dishwasher so we didn't have to do the dishes by hand this time (thank goodness for that)
We actually got up Friday morning and went shopping. This was my first time to ever do that and Becky said it was her first time also. We have the kids almost completely bought for. I have a few more things that I would like to get for them but we got the majority of it all done. I was very glad that we got up and did it but believe me at the time I was thinking we were crazy. Who in their right mind does that?
We left OKC about 3 Friday afternoon and made it home about 8 that night.
Saturday Matt was back to making his yard art. We were going to put up all the Christmas decorations but we never got around to it. Isn't that sad. I actually feel kind of bad about it. The weather was and is really yucky so there is no way we would have done the outside stuff but we could have at least put up the tree and decorated in the house. There is always this coming weekend so that is when we will do it.
I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving. I will try to update you a little more when I have a little bit more time.

the concert
The Jonas Brother and Hannah Montana concert was last night. What a blast! I honestly don't know if I ever been to a better concert. This was the most memorable concert for me that I'm not sure if I will ever forget it. Hopefully Kaylee had the time of her life also and will remember it forever too!
It started with us driving over to Ft.. Worth. No real problems went on there. It was a pretty smooth ride. We hit a little traffic on the way there but nothing t terrible. They were saying on the news that there was girls everywhere and traffic was horrific but we must have missed all that. We had no problems finding a place to park. (thank goodness, I really thought we were going to)
We walked over to the convention center and yes there was kids everywhere but everyone seemed to be really well behaved while they stood in line. Lots of them had Hannah hair on and lots of them had sparkly makeup on. You could see the excitement on everyones faces. We walked down the road to see if we could find a place to eat. Everywhere we looked there was extreme lines so I was looking for something fast foodish. We came up to Chili's and looked at their line....out the door but Eileen had a wonderful idea of going to the Chili's-to-go and see how that line was. No one was there so we ordered our food and waited for it to be given to us. We ate outside of Chili's on the park bench. Isn't that funny! Eileen took a picture to mark our memories on it.
Now its almost time for the concert to start so we make our way to the convention center to go in and take our seats. You could see the excitement on the kids faces and I could feel my own excitement rising in me. I could not wait for the Jonas Brothers to come and start singing. Finally they came out and sang all the popular songs on their album (and a few that I didn't know) We all screamed and danced and yelled for them. They put on an awesome show. Then it was over. They played about 40 minutes and then they were done. I told the kids "ok here is were we scream and clap and stomp our feet so they will come out and do the encore" then they turned the lights on. I was a little surprised to say the least that they didn't perform the encore. They didn't even perform Year 3000....what was going on? I was really confused. Regardless of that we got up to go and check the t-shirt line. The line was still horrific! I made the boys go to the restroom and Kaylee and I were going to go but the woman's line was extremely long also so we decided to wait and go back to our seats.
Next up Hannah Montana. So exciting waiting for her to come out. We saw her getting ready to come on stage and she actually waved at us! I thought that was great because she could have completely ignored all of us and waited for the concert to start. Now she finally starts singing.....everyone goes crazy and sings along with her. She was so good. She talked the entire time to the crowd. She would touch their hands. She accepted flowers from someone. It was the best and then she said "do you guys care if I bring the Jonas Brothers back out here to sing with me" the convention center went nuts. They came out and did their song together while jumping all over the stage and making everyone get on the feet. It was so much fun. Then Hannah left the stage and the Jonas Brothers said she had to go and turn into Miley so they would sing a couple of songs while she did that. They played a slow song and then they played..........The Year 3000.......everyone went crazy again! I recorded Kaylee and Cody while they danced and jumped and sang and screamed. The only thing you can see is both of their glow sticks flying all over the place but it is fun to watch anyway. I am pretty sure it is going to stay on my phone for my own little reminder of my favorite concert ever. OK back to the synopsis of the concert.........the Jonas Brothers finish up with 3000 and then Miley comes back out. Everyone yells and screams and claps and stomps their feet. Miley played for a while and at the end of her set she brought all of her dancers out and the Jonas Brothers back out and they all held hands and bowed. I was totally impressed. Of all the concerts that I have been I have never seen them do this. I loved it! Then they all left and everyone screamed for Miley. She came out and played a slow song for the encore. It was beautiful and I loved it but she should had played a more upbeat song for her encore. She did play the guitar. It was really nice. Then she left and it was the end of the show.
To let you in on a little secret I got a little choked up during the entire show. I'm not sure if it is because I knew how much this meant to Kaylee or if it was because I loved the show so much or if it was that I was able to share it will all of these wonderful children and know that this entertainment is actually wholesome and pure and I didn't have to worry about anything shady happening. I cannot stress to you enough how much I loved this show. It was worth every dime that I paid for it and I would do it again and maybe even pay more for the tickets. (you have to have the money to do that but if I had it I would absolutely think about spending it)

kayaking

Kaylee went and learned how to kayak this weekend. It looked like so much fun. I know a blast was had by all. I even had a blast and all I did was watch. (in case you are wondering why I didn't try it.....way to cold for me! It was an indoor pool but it is still to cold for me)
Kaylee loved it. She decided next time we go camping she wants to kayak rather then canoe. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that though.
Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale was doing a mall tour and it came through Texas. We love Ashley Tisdale! (If you happen to not know who she is, she is a huge Disney star starring in the Suite Life of Zack and Cody and everyones favorite, Sharpae in High School Musical) Kaylee and I went and stood in the crowd to listen to her play 3 of her songs from her CD.
It was a lot of fun and I am really happy that we went. I know the pictures aren't that great but you get the idea right.

Soccer Awards
I didn't get a chance last night to tell you about soccer awards. They were so good! We met at the church and the coaches take the kids so they can be introduced when entering the big sanctuary. We were sitting down waiting....they introduce the Hawks and here comes Aaron and his team running into the room. Then we wait and wait and wait and wait some more. They finally called The Sting and here comes Kaylee and her team. She is riding on the back of another teammate. (a few other girls were also) very cute but I thought for sure they were going to fall coming down those stairs (thankfully nothing happened) Then the show started, they first showed a short film of all the teams playing their games and then the real entertainment began. They had a magician! It was so much fun. I have actually never seen a real magic act so this was a nice treat. The end of it he locked his assistant into a box with locks all over it, he had a father and a son inspect the locks to make sure they were locked and then the music started, he stood on top and pulled this purple blanket/bag over him and 1 second later he pulled it down but it was his assistant! Very cool (yes he was in the box) Then it was all over and the kids got their trophies and we came home and talked all about it. Very fun season that ended with a bang!
